RevCast: from RevolutionSF.com (general)
Commentary, criticism and comedy about movies, TV and all corners of geeky genres and culture. A sci-fi convention in your pocket.

Summer is half over, but Hollywood still wants access to your wallet. They have brought a myriad of offerings to seperate you from your money. Co-hosts, Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel are joined by the movie queen Tegan Hendrickson to discuss the films and make their recommendations. There is speculation about what to call Benedict Cumberbatch’s new baby. They also come to an agreement that it's time to retire the shaky came. And for some reason, Deanna expresses a desire to visit a lego spa.

Back in 2012, the RevNews took a look at the state of the portrayal and treatment of women in geek media. Now WITNESS US as host Gary Mitchel is joined by talented lady geeks Tegan Hendrickson, Christina Janke, Jarrah Hodge and KC Ryan to return to the topic in the wake of the debate over Black Widow's role in "Age of Ultron", female characters in comics, and the awesomeness that is Imperator Furiosa in "Mad Max: Fury Road"!

Listen as they discuss the horror of the MRA "paradise" at the heart of "Bitch Planet"; cover Spider-Gwen, Squirrel-Girl, Silk and more of Marvel's collection of new female heroes; KC's take on Black Widow's reveal of what happened in the Red Room; Tegan's insight into why we analyse female characters in media so intently; the group's frustration over the lack of female action figures; how Mad Max is a Manic Pixie Dream Guy; Tegan's inability to judge what's appropriate for kids; why Furiosa is so important as a character, especially today; the cast's inability to get away from creepy ick factors and Max's real lost love interest.

A long time ago, on a different podcast, Gary Mitchel gathered some sages of the DC universe to discuss the first half of the inagural season of CW's The Flash.  But, lo, there were technical difficulties and Gary was unable to fix the problems  Brave RevCast Producer, Deanna Toxopeus, took on the thankless project in an attempt to rescue the podcast.  These many months later, we are ready to release the final resulst to the net.

So join Gary as he sits down with the world's Flash expert, Shaun Rosado, Superman expert Michael Bailey, Revolution SF co-founder Joe Crowe and the forementioned Deanna, as they discuss the first half of the first season of Flash. You'll laugh.  You'll cry.  You'll kiss at least one hour goodbye.

This one ran long, so this will be the first of two parts.  Check our Part 1 if you missed it.

May 2015 was a spectacular month for geek movies! But what if you've seen both Mad Max and Avengers multiple times and are looking for something fresh and new? (OK, we realize that this is not true, that you could watch the movies again and again, but work with us here.)

Well never fear, our co-hosts Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel sit own for a look at the movies.  They are joined by the Mistress of the Movies, Tegan Hendrickson. They discuss the endless sequels and why fictional BD Wong can't learn from his mistakes. Tegan even invents a new word to describe Seth MacFarlane movies.

It's time to dip into the archives again and look at the works of fantasy author Joe Abercrombie.  Our co-hosts Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel are joined by RevSF's Man from Japan (TM) David Farnell to primarly dicuss Abercrombie's First Law series.  As Gary observes, Abercrombie writes books about the people who would be the villains in other authors' work. Together our trio looks at Abercrombie's writing style, characters and themes.

As always, the discussion is wide ranging, with David discovering a mermaid and Deanna being completely inappropriate.
