RevCast: from RevolutionSF.com
Commentary, criticism and comedy about movies, TV and all corners of geeky genres and culture. A sci-fi convention in your pocket.

A little book was published in 1937 that went on to change modern fantasy literature.  Inspired by the stories he told his sones, J.R.R. Tolkein created a masterpiece of children's and fantasy literature.  Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel sit down with Hobbit fans, Dave Farnell and Shaney Ivey to discuss the book, its history, its impact and express their hopes for the trilogy that will begin being released this Christmas.  There is a very important announcement about our boards and the Nerdliess thing, so this is a bit of a supersizer.

Why is royalty such a prevalent form of government in Science Ficiton and Fantasy?  This is the question that our co-hosts, Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel discuss with RevSF's Man from Japan (tm) David Farnell.  They explore the origins of our fascination with kings, and try to find a fantasy novel where there isn't some sort of fudal ruler.  They also reach out to you, the listeners, asking you if you know of one.  There is also the Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News, so it is a slightly supersized version of goodness (think baker's dozen!).

It's August, so summer is almost over, but before it gives its last gasp, Hollywood has brought us more films to temp us into the theater.  Co-hosts Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel sit down to look at the offerings and decide which ones are worth your time.  There is also the Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News.  A bundle of fun and pseudo-expertise.

Oliver Queen has been many things in comics; a millionaire, a billionaire, broke, clean shaven, Van Dyked, Batman clone, sarcastic.  One thing he has never been is boring.  Well, OK, maybe in the 60s, but still we here at the Roundtable thought it was time that we looked at the Green Arrow's place in the DC Universe.  Our Podcast Queen, Deanna Toxopeus gathers up Green Arrow expert Jayme Lynn Blaschke, Black Canary expert Jennifer Ford and DC Comics Superfan Michael Emond to discuss the Emerald Archer's history, several transformations and the highs and lows of the character.

Given that this episode was already supersized, there is no Nerd News in this episode.
