As Hallowe'en approaches, Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel look at the lamest thinggs in horror movies.  The discussion centres around the tropes that pop-up again and again in horror movies, the things that lazy writers, directors and producers rely on to tell their stories when they are out of original ideas.  Names are named and fingers are pointed as the two build a pretty solid list.  They also make time for the Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News.

Guess who's 80 years young this year?  That's right, Leonard Nimoy!  So join Deanna Toxopeus, Gary Mitchel and Scott Duschene as they look at the career of this geek icon.  And while, it is Spock heavy, they also take time to look at his musical career (5 albums!), his photography career, his audio production company and his other acting.  They also examine his cultural impact as Spock.

In this very special edition of the Roundtable, our Podcast Queen Deanna Toxopeus gathers up a group of Twilight fans to discuss the series.  Stephen Granade, Umni Khan, KateParkinson and Rebecca Thompson look at the appeal of the series, its themes and, yes, even some of the problems with the series.  There is also a fascinating discussion on the female storytelling and the value our society places on female protagonists.

Given that this is a special episode, we have forgone the usual Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News to spend more time discussing Twilight.

The Roundtable heads back to the cinema for October and finds a shocking lack of good (or bad) horror to make you scream and squirm. (Spoiler: But for some reason, there is Footloose.)  Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel sort through what is there, and let you know what to catch, and what to miss.  (Spoiler: miss Footloose)  In addition, there is  the Nerd News and the Week in Nerdliness, so it's not a total loss.  (Spoler: except for Footloose)

P.S. After we taped this episode, Hollywood confessed that they had two more horror movies to send out.  I guess there was a pop-up horror planned all along.

It's been 25 years since David Bowie's crotch stared in the Jim Henson movie called Labyrinth, so Deanna Toxopeus, and Gary Mitchel meet up to discuss the groin and its co-stars, the impact of the movie they made.  Deanna horrifies Gary with talk of remake, and they both feel a little bit giddy talking about Bowie's private parts so much.  There is also the Nerd News and the Week in Nerdliness.
