RevCast: from RevolutionSF.com
Commentary, criticism and comedy about movies, TV and all corners of geeky genres and culture. A sci-fi convention in your pocket.

In honour of the 86th episode of the roundtable, our topic is Get Smart.  Deanna Toxopeus, Gary Mitchell and special guest (Get Smart expert and Deanna's husband) Rick Wirthlin talk about the great 60s sitcom, looking at why it works and why it is still funny even today.  And you get to listen to Gary and Deanna freak out over a comic book starring the PotUS.  There's plenty of laughs and puns for everyone.  They also discuss the week in nerdliness and the nerd news.

Oh January, how bitter sweet are you?  We have to go back to work and school, digging though the Christmas sticking for the last of the chocolates.  Yet just when we need something to pick us up, you send us the dregs of the movie industry to entertain us at the megaplex.  Deanna Toxopeus, and Gary Mitchell look at the three genre movies that Hollywood has thought to bring us in the New Year.  (They only thought it was two, but luckily they discussed the new Nick Cage movie.  Based on some recent trailers, this may just be genre!)  But all is not gloomy, they look at the week in nerdliness and the nerd news, which itself leads to a long, long discuss on Netflicks.

It's Christmas time and  Hollywood has left us some presents at the multi-plex.  The question is which are puppies and which are socks from Aunt Jillian?  Metaphorically speaking.  Well Deanna Toxopeus, Gary Mitchell and RevolutionSF's new Comics Editor, Sarah Arnold shake all the presents and tell you which ones are worth opening.  We will not, however, admit to breaking the fragile ones.  The mailman did that.  There is also the Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News, you have a rolicking good time.

In this very special edition of the Roundtable, fanstasy author Tad Williams talks with our podcast host  Deanna Toxopeus.  They discuss a variety of topics, including his work, his special relationship with his German fans and a big upcoming spin-off.  So cuddle up by the fire and learn what one of the best authors out there today has to say about stuff and things.

Tad's new book, Shadowheart is available at fine bookstores everywhere.  Possibly at some seedy joints too, but definatley not at the Wretched Hive of Scum and Villany Bookstore.  They only stock books about Uwe Boll and the people that screwed up the Percy Jackson and the Olympians film adaptation.

In our never ending look at the new TV season, Deanna Toxopeus, Gary Mitchell and Scott Duschene look at what is good and what you need to avoid in the cable offerings this fall.  There is also lots of talk about Brian Blessed, but in a more family freindly way this time.  When you add the Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News, you have a rolicking good time.

Deanna Toxopeus, and Gary Mitchell welcome guest podcaster Stephen Granade, part of the What the Cast Team and someone who is at least partly responsible for DragonConTV.  Together they discuss how the con has changed with the arrival of the digital age.  The wax poetic about mimeographed fanfic, the bootleg table and other relics of the good old days.  They also talk about how cons have changed, in some cases for the better, in an attempt to remain relevant and attract a new audience.  They also discuss the Nerd News and the Week in Nerdliness.

Like the bunch of over stimulated Gen Xers that they are, Deanna Toxopeus, Gary Mitchell and Scott Duschene take a look at one of the best comedy movies of all time, Airplane!  They run all the lines, sometimes several times.  Just like last Saturday's D&D game!  Plus they end up talking about Brian Blessed, Patrick Swayze and William Shatner.  What more do you want in a podcast?  Beyond the Week in Nerd News and Nerdiliest Thing This Week.

Blessings be upon American Thanksgiving and the bounty of goodness in the movie theatre.  OK, not a huge, cornocopia of movies, but a comfortable harvest basket of yummy viewing.  Hollywood knows you will be sending some, if not all, of your family to the movie theater in the next month.  So do Deanna Toxopeus, Gary Mitchell and Scott Duschene.  And they take an entire podcast (OK, just the roundtable part) to discuss the November 2010 movie offerings.  They also spend some time talking about the Week in Nerdliness and the Nerd News.
