RevCast: from RevolutionSF.com
Commentary, criticism and comedy about movies, TV and all corners of geeky genres and culture. A sci-fi convention in your pocket.

MARVEL's Phase Three begins here! And it begins with a story that we're sure is going to make us emotionally compromised! Best friend vs best friend over previous best friend! To discuss this movie, the comics that inspired it, and what to look forward in it, RevNews hosts Gary Mitchel & Tegan Hendrickson have called together a group of registered experts on the MCU: Mike Nelson, Ryan Guthrie and host of our ESO sister show, Earth Station MCU, Jennifer Hartshorn!

Tune in as our comic book heroes discuss if Tony is a supervillain now; Steve's character arc vs Tony's in the MCU; they try not to get Tegan started on the "Martha" thing again; what Spidey's role in all this is going to be; everyone's love of the Russo brothers; how we need Captain America branded tissues for the screening; the Team Cap and Team Tony lineups, with how Steve should have played some MMOs before this to better understand making a balanced team; a breakdown on known Infinity Gems so far; Mike's need for Zemo to be Cobra Commandered; Tegan's terrible Force Awakens joke and the greenhouse mystery.

At long last, after many years and a movie reboot, Star Trek is finally returning to television! Well, sort of, as CBS reveals that the series will be part of their new streaming service. Not only that, it will be in the hands of one of our favorite show-runners, Bryan Fuller! We like this news because not only has Fuller brought us some of our favorite genre shows (Pushing Daises, Hannibal), but he got his start with Star Trek!

To discuss all this and more, RevNews hosts Gary Mitchel and Tegan Hendrickson gathered a federation of Star Trek experts: Michael Falkner, Ryan Guthrie and Sue Kisenwether. Listen in as they discuss when/where the new series might be set; a valiant but failed attempt to not discuss the J.J. movies; what they're expecting/hoping for in the new show – including what “essential” things it need to be “Star Trek”, and what past elements need to shore leave; should it be episodic or serial; Kirk as your Cool Uncle vs Picard as your Dad; Utopia vs Striving for Utopia; the attack of the poor Skype connection; and a bonus musical addition to the show from our favorite Goth Vulcan, Voltaire!

Back in December, RevNes co-hosts Gary Mitchel and Tegan Hendrickson gathered Michael Falkner and Nathan Laws together to dicuss Star Wars prior to the premier of the Force Awakens. The reminisce about when they first watched Star Wars (Hint: With the exception of Gary, they are all young), what should and should not be canon and their hopes and dreams for Episode 7.

Please note: This is another episode that fell victim to Gary's relocation to the East Coast. But it is still worth listening to.

It is the month that we geeks have been waiting years for.  It's December 2015 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been released in theaters. But there is so much more to see.  Podcast Queen, Deanna Toxopeus is joined by RevNews co-host Tegan Hendrickson to discuss the December offerings, and believe it or not they do not spend the whole podcast talking about Star Wars.

Because there are other movies coming out in December.

Honest.

Manimal is out on DVD.

We never thought we would type those words.

It's pretty much the greatest show from 1983 that contained a detective who transformed into any animal, but most of the time just a panther or a hawk. It lasted eight episodes. Then-pre-teen Joe Crowe was nonplussed.

Since then, this whole Manimal fandom thing has really gotten out of hand with him. You'll hear why and how.

At DragonCon on the American Sci-Fi Classics Track -- the live-action home of RevCast irregulars Gary, Tegan and a plethora of fine folks -- we hosted a Manimal panimal two years ago, way before we knew Manimal was coming out on DVD.

Here it is in its entirety, because it is full of geeky love for quickly canceled sci-fi TV.  Joe and Gary were joined by dedicated fanimals Dr. Geek Scott Viguie and New York Times bestselling writer Debbie Viguie

That's right. Fans of Manimal packed a whole convention track room. Your move, people who take sci-fi too seriously.

Did the back half of Arrow season 3 live up to the end of season 2?  Erstwhile host Gary Mitchel is joined by Mark Finn, Nathan Laws and Deanna Toxopeus to discuss the ups and downs of the season. They discuss character development (or lack thereof) and the fact that everyone knows about Ollie's secret now. Except Iris, who must never know.

So sit back and enjoy this episode of the RevNews. We promise this flashback is great, even wihout an Amell in a wig.
