RevCast: from RevolutionSF.com
Science fiction news and commentary with insight and humor, plus some really terrific short stories.

It may be hard to believe but that it is spring when when the robin has kicked in our door and stollen the electric blankets, but according to our calendars, the season of rebirth is upon us.  Hollywood has joined in with spring surprises of their own. Our co-hosts Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel are joined by Tegan Hendrickson and Nathan Laws to look at the movies coming out this month.  Suprisingly, they talk about more than Captain America.

Presenting RevNews' final look back at 2013, the Year in Movies! Listen in as our gathering of film fans,Gary Mitchel,Deanna Toxopeus andTegan Hendickson review the genre movies that came out last year; what they thought would be good, and then holding their feet to the fire about if they were right or not.

Also covered is Gary and Deanna's abiding (perhaps *too* abiding) fondness of Michael Falkner (who was unable to join in on this episode's fun) & Tegan; the solution for a new place for everyone to send the RevCast's hatemail as WhatTheCast has folded; Nick Cage's need to embrace his inner crazy; and what extreme measures it takes to make Deanna to actually want to watch a Shatner movie!

And beware of SPOILERS, as they cover all the movies in the depth they deserve.

Booze!  It is something that seems to permiate all of genre fiction. From Metaphor to Comic Relief, it exists myriad of forms.  Our co-hosts Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel sit down with Tegan Hendrickson to discuss how alcohol is used in various works of genre.  They get deep at some points, and downright silly at others.  It is the RevCast after all.

Some of the places that we mentioned in our rundown of bars (the ones with some kind of Internet presence).

Hobbit Pub

AFK Tavern

Geiger Bar

Dernier Bar Avant La Fin de la Monde

Way Station Brooklyn

Zaphod Beeblebrox

It's March, and while Spring may not yet have arrived in your neck of the woods, Hollywood has brought you a delicious crop of new movies to tempt you out of your basement and into their sticky bottomed theaters.  Our co-hosts Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel are joined by Tegan Hendrickson and Michael Falkner to discuss the months offerings.

But we know you also come to the RevCast for the patter too.  In this episode, Gary hates on Walter from the Muppets and Deanna discovers a way to get revenge on Gary for all that devil crap.

Last year was Doctor Who's big 50th, and as part of our look back at Doctor's history, we recorded this awesome episode, our co-hostsDeanna Toxopeus andGary Mitchel sat down withTegan Hendrickson andGraeme Burk to discuss Christopher Eccleston's run as the man in the blue box.  There look at the Doctor and his companions and how this season set the base for the Tennant season that followed.

Taped before the 50th anniversary special, this episode was delaye due to technical difficulties and bandwith issues.  This will explain why some of the references are a little dated.

It's February and it's time to talk movies.  But what is out there that you might want to spend your hard earned money on?  What is the perfect Geek Date Night movie?  What should you see?  Well, never fear!  The RevCast Crew is here.  We have our co-hosts with the mostest, Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel along with the one, the only Tegan Hendrickson and the man who can only be described as the Gary Enabler, Michael Falkner to discuss what is out there.

In this edition, we take an NC-17 diversion in the midst of discussing the Lego Movie (it's not as bad as it sounds) and we learn that this podcast is group therapy for Gary.

The God of Thunder!  Odinson!  Bjorn!  Point Break!  That's right, this time round we are talking Thor.  And his hammer.  <Insert your own joke here.>  Our hostess with the mostest Deanna Toxopeus is joined by Tegan Hendrickson and Michael Emond.  When their Marvel and Norse Mythology knowledge combine, you get a funny and fact-cilled look at the Son of Asgard and Midgard.  And blissfully absent of a mention of where the Devil might be going.

It's that time of year. Those films that Hollywood had any faith in were released in December.  What is left is slim pickings.  And that is what our  Deanna Toxopeus and Gary Mitchel force slightly unwilling Tegan Hedrickson and Michael Falkner to talk about.  Between the discussions about fart jokes and cloning Aaron Eckheart, Gary manages to come up with an idea that will be stolen by Hollywood by the time you have finished listening to the podcast.

It's not every show that makes it five years, much less 50! So this was a very big year for our favorite mad man with a box! In 2013 Doctor Who had a new (half) season, audio adventures, retrospectives, and a world-wide simulcast of the 50th Anniversary Special!

With so much to examine, Gary Mitchel has called in Whovian experts Tegan Hendrickson, Mike Gordon and Bobby Nash to look at all the high and low points for our favorite Time Lord's banner year.

And, as always, beware of SPOILERS!
